RP International 2000 Begins
GRAND RAPIDS--About 1,300 Reformed Presbyterians converged
on Calvin College Saturday, July 29, for the year 2000 Reformed
Presbyterian International Conference.
This year's theme is "A Godly Heritage." Also featured
prominently will be an emphasis on the Great Commission of
Matthew 28.
The International Conference provides a venue for members
and friends of several RP denominations around the world to
gather. The conference program is designed for all ages.
Pastor Bob Hemphill and Keith Mann "kicked off"
Saturday evening with a comedy routine and with the distribution
of prizes to those who had come from the longest distance
(not an easy call, with persons from Japan and Australia in
the audience). The conference staff was acknowledged with
applause, and a time of harmonious a cappella psalm singing
was enjoyed.
Tomorrow's events (July 30) include morning and evening corporate
worship services. Pastor Paul McCracken (Springs RPC, Colorado
Springs, Colo.) will preach on the topic, "Under Messiah's
Authority," and Pastor Bill Edgar (Broomall, Pa., RPC),
will preach on the topic, "Dwell in the Land and Possess
It."
Afternoon options include a 50th anniversary presentation
of "The Life of Christ in the Psalms," an always-popular
Psalm Sing, and a presentation on home mission work in North
America.
Daily news updates will be sent over CovieNet for the remainder
of the conference. To see daily photos from the conference,
go here. There will be no news report on Sunday; so stay tuned
for a report to be filed late Monday.

NOTE: I'd like to dedicate these daily news reports and photos
to the glory of God in memory of Pastor Ray McCracken of the
Orlando, Fla., RPC, who went to be with the Lord this week.
Ray epitomized everything this conference is meant to be.
